In this class, you'll learn how to work brioche stitch in two contrasting colors, while making yourself a beautiful cowl. It's a technique that looks intricate but becomes intuitive once you understand the rhythm. The cowl is worked in 3 brioche sections, alternating with garter stitch that doubles as a built-in lifeline, so you can relax and enjoy the process.
You'll learn how to manage two colors in brioche, read the pattern, and build the lush, reversible fabric that makes brioche so satisfying to knit.
What you'll learn
- How 2-color brioche works
- Managing two yarns cleanly across brioche rows
- Using garter stitch sections as built-in lifelines
- Reading and following a brioche pattern
Materials
- 2 skeins of worsted-weight yarn in contrasting colors (we used Malabrigo Rios)
- US 7 24-inch circular needles
Please come to the first class with your project cast on and the first garter section completed. We'll send you the pattern when you register.
Skill level
Recommended for graduates of Knit 2 who have completed a few small projects and are comfortable knitting in the round.
